Environmental Site Remediation
Tri-Core conducted a site remedial excavation on behalf of Parsons and Imperial Oil. The project site is located on a main thoroughfare of the City of Brandon. The work was conducted adjacent to an elementary school and the University of Brandon which contributed to increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Tri-Core implemented a site specific traffic and pedestrian management plan to mitigate the risks associated with the movement of heavy equipment on and off the site to ensure the safety of the general public.
The project consisted of the following key components:
- Excavation and disposal: Heavy machines were deployed to excavate, segregate and stockpile impacted soils for testing and subsequent disposal at a licensed soil disposal facility.
- Dewatering: A significant amount of hydrocarbon impacted groundwater was treated on-site with an air-sparging system, tested, and then disposed of at the City’s wastewater treatment plant.
- Planning: The small footprint of the site required meticulous scheduling to facilitate stockpiling, testing, and sequencing the removal of the impacted soils.
Tri-Core’s commitment to defined project management principles and a team based approach to the work with the Owner’s site representative ensured the successful completion of the project in meeting project deliverables safely on budget and on schedule.
