Hydro Electric Generating Facilities
Tri-Core was contracted by Manitoba hydro to complete civil works for the development of the switching station of the Keeyask Hydro Electric Generating Station project. The work consisted of:
- Stripping organics;
- Geotextile installation and;
- Granular hauling and placement of approximately 250,000 tonnes of material.
The project was constructed in challenging winter conditions in a remote northern location.
A key success of this project was Tri-Core’s ability to effectively execute a number of projects that were managed through a set of unionized agreements. The work at Keeyask was conducted under the Burntwood Nelson Agreement which incorporated a job referral service requiring Tri-Core to select local candidates to support a significant portion of the work.
