Mine Tailings Impoundment
Tri-Core Projects was contracted by HudBay Minerals to construct and upgrade their copper mill’s tailings impoundment near Creighton, Saskatchewan. Over a period of four months and while production continued at HudBay’s mine site, Tri-Core deployed a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technologists, site supervisors and labourers to expand the existing tailings facility.
The scope of work included:
- Raising the existing tailings impoundment dam;
- Installing concrete control structures;
- Placement of impervious embankment fills;
- Bedrock cleaning and;
- Installation of dental concrete to seal fissures and cracks in the bedrock.
